2008 Olympian Demetrius Andrade and 2004 Olympian Jason Estrada were both victorious on Saturday night in front of their hometown fans at the Twin River Event Center in Lincoln, Rhode Island. Heavyweight Estrada moved to 15-1 with 3 KOs after an eight round unanimous decision over Derek Bryant (20-5-1, 17 KOs). "I whipped his ass," said Estrada afterward. Highly regarded super welterweight Andrade (2-0, 2 KOs) scored an impressive fourth round TKO over Eric Marriott (0-2). Time was :50. "I’ve been fighting a long time but, fighting at home, I wanted to put on a show," Andrade commented. "He took some good shots. I established my jab and worked the body. I’ll tell you, he can really take a good shot. I don’t know how he didn’t go down with some of those shots."
In another notable bout, welterweight Jason Pires (21-3, 9 KOs) returned after more than five years to outpoint Frank Houghtaling (19-15-5, 4 KOs) over six by scores of 58-55, 58-55, 58-56.
